What’s Next: Prairie’s Fotofocus Partnership with the University of Cincinnati,  Fall 2014

Posted on February 26, 2014

High school photo students partnered with fine art students from the University of Cincinnati’s School of Art to explore the possibilities of lens-based art.

This project paired ten gifted high school students with ten fine art or art education students from the University of Cincinnati’s School of Art to explore “What’s Next” in their field by learning new techniques, developing an artistic concept and executing a small series of works that investigated the future of fine art practices incorporating photography. This project culminated with a collaborative exhibition displayed at the University of Cincinnati’s Myers Art Gallery during Fotofocus, 2014. This program provided an educational opportunity for high school and college level students to become aware of recent developments in contemporary photography, and an opportunity to think about ways to push the boundaries of fine-art practices using photography both within and beyond the school environment. This exhibit gave Fotofocus attendees a unique chance to see recent work being created by the talented students from Cincinnati.
