New Voices: SCPA and Joseph House, Fall, 2013

Posted on September 04, 2013

Junior and Senior SCPA creative writing students worked with residents of Joseph House, which provides housing and treatment for veterans struggling with homelessness.

In the fall of 2013, New Voices partnered with Joseph House on a collaborative photo project including Joseph House residents and students from the School for Creative and Performing Arts. Residents and students created a body of photographs that were used by Joseph House residents to reflect upon and illustrate their process of recovery and integration with the community outside of Joseph House. Photographs supplemented existing plans and goals established by clinical programming of Joseph House. Photo shoots were geared toward exploring interesting historical and architectural landmarks of Over-the-Rhine and creating expressive portraits. During discussion periods, groups worked with residents to select meaningful images and create audio recordings of conversations.
