Prairie to participate in the 2018 Fotofocus Biennial Festival of Photography in Cincinnati with work by recently resettled refugees.
To complement the “open archive” theme of the upcoming 2018 Fotofocus Biennial Festival of Photography in October, Prairie will work with recently resettled refugees to create a body of photographs to exhibit in its Northside gallery space. Refugees who have recently resettled in Cincinnati from around the globe, through the efforts of Catholic Charities of Southwest Ohio will learn the basics of point and shoot photography and about Western traditions of creating and compiling family photo albums. Each participant will create their own small body of work, create their own family photo album and show their work in Prairie’s Fotofocus exhibit in October, 2018. Images will be accompanied by short narratives and reflections on how each participant came to live in the United States.
