New Voices’ program with Milford High School students and Joseph House residents from the fall of 2014 was recognized by the Global Youth Service Day event on April 10, 2015.
As Youth Service America’s signature campaign, Global Youth Service Day (GYSD) is the largest service event in the world that activates and celebrates the millions of children and youth who find their voice, take action, and have an impact on vital issues.
In the fall of 2014, Milford High School students worked hand in hand with residents of Joseph House in Over-the-Rhine which provides programming for veterans recovering from substance dependency and related issues. Students photographed with residents to document and interpret the historic neighborhood surrounding Joseph House as a starting point for reflecting on the nature of recovery and pathways for veterans to reconnect with the community in positive ways.
